Virtual Village
Renovation of existing 11,000 SF back office space to a dynamic “dot.com” environment to serve computer access needs of all Library patrons.
Project Approach
The design idea is the creation of identifiable forms (Circle, S-curve, Wall & Ziggurat), each designed to accommodate a complement of computers, or support functions such as Front Desk, Conference and Display. The placement of the forms to either side of an axial path establishes a spatial geography; the geometry of the forms responds to the type, number and zoning of the workstations based on their function; for example, Macs on the Wall, pc’s along the S-curve, special needs and access in the Ziggurat, Circular reception, Round Conference (universal, open to all).
